I understand, but Radford would be in the N/NE section along with EastMont. I just mentioned GW because the best teams Clintwood would have had to beat that they didn't actually play/beat were GW and Chilhowie. You could probably throw Galax in there too as they played EM close.
Still I think most agree that SW Va. may not have too good a year. I talked to one of GC's coaches today and he said that they are probably a year or two away from being state competitive again. I always hope for the best though you never know when the stars will line up and someone will have one of those magical years where everything goes right. The playoffs will definitely take on a different look next year.
Speaking of Lee what do they return next year? If they return most of this years team I think they will definately make a deep run into next years playoffs. I had my doubts about the coach seeing his record at his prior job but he seems to fit in nicely with Lees style of play. I saw a huge improvement from Lees first game to their last this season.
They lose a few good ones but still return quite a bit. Lose Hill (#5), Blledsoe (at qb, #15), and couple of lineman (one guard and a tackle), and one of the tightends, Woodward (#4)...defensively, they lose some in the secondary with Bledsoe at safety and I think maybe one or two at corner, and Woodward rotated in some on the d-line but other than, most everyone else returns. The biggest issue will be quarterback but if they stick with the two tight wishbone and don't throw it much they'll just need a good runner I guess, haha. I expect someone like Anders (#9) to take Hill's place, and I'd say he'll do that well. I seen Parsons taking snaps at qb in the final games but I would assume they would try to keep him at receiver (even if they don't throw it much) and as a back. Barber has been listed as a qb some and I think the good qb at Pennington may have been an 8th grader (could be wrong though)..each of those are good athletes and are good runners. I expect them to be better next year. Palko and Lefevers really had the line playing well as the season went along. With most of them returning including Robbins (#79, tackle), Daniels (center), Davis (#73, guard) and they had two or three who saw plenty of action last year that didn't start and they did well, I look for that them to be solid. Graham and the three backs who rotated in at fb return. Give the staff another year should be a plus. Hopefully one thing they can improve upon is the kicking game. I bet the average starting position for each team was at the 40-45 for about every game. It would be nice if they could push teams a little farther back next year
